Licenses for 4G mobile telephony allocated
Sarajevo, 08 April 2019 - Today in Sarajevo, at the official ceremony, the Chairman of the Council of Ministers, Dr. Denis Zvizdić, delivered Radio Frequency Spectrum License for Providing Services through Mobile Access Systems to licensed operators in BiH, - BH Telecom d.d. Sarajevo, Telekom Srpske a.d. Banja Luka and JP Hrvatske telekomunikacije d.d. Mostar.
Licenses are granted for a period of 15 years, and the licensees are obliged to start commercial service provision via LTE network within one month from the date of issuing the License, as well as to notify the Agency about it.
Benefits from the introduction of 4G mobile networks are multiple. In addition to direct benefits for the state budget, significant investments in the network infrastructure of mobile operators will be enabled, including the introduction of new services, all in the best interest of end-users. Assigned frequencies for 4G will allow coverage of rural areas with lower population density, and operators will be able to plan the development of their networks more efficiently. Besides this, the 4G network will provide users with Internet access speeds up to 100 Mbit /s, which will reduce the digital gap between urban and rural areas, while the increased speed of broadband internet access would positively affect the economy in general, and especially in less developed areas.
Mobile networks of the 4th generation are the first telecommunications systems that focus not only on services aimed at human communication (voice communication and Internet access) but also provide preconditions for starting machine-based communications, that is, support for mass and critical sensory networks and machine communication, shortly called M2M.
