Electronic and Postal Communications Authority is the regulatory body in the field of electronic communications and postal service, which supervises the regulatory framework defined by the law on electronic communications, by the Law on postal service and the development policies, defined by the Council of Ministers.

Albanian public tender procedure for granting the rights to use the 2100 MHz frequency band for IMT
Public tender for assigning radio frequencies in 2100 MHz band for the provision of public communication services is concluded. Three out of four Albania's mobile operators took part in the Tender - Vodafone, AMC and Plus Communication. The tender procedure was conducted to grant 3 (three) Authorization 2x5 MHz and 1 (one) unpaired 5 MHz, in the 2100 MHz frequency bands, for use throughout the territory of the Republic of Albania. At the end of the evaluation procedure was sold one block (2x5 MHz) in the 2100 MHz band. The total outcome of the tender was 1.500.000 EUR.
AKEP interrupted continuation of the public tender procedure for granting of 2 (two) other rights to use the 2100 MHz frequency band for IMT, due to the winner's failure to pay the license fee within the due term. The selection procedure had been launched on 12 November 2014, for granting rights to use the frequency band 1965-1980 MHz paired with 2155-2170 MHz and 5 MHz of unpaired spectrum in 1915-1920 MHz, for GSM/LTE/UMTS/WiMAX systems.
